About Mud Ditch Pottery

Welcome to MUD DITCH POTTERY! My name is Leigh-Ann Johnson and my background is filled with both an education and career of playing in the mud, but in a different format. I’ve worked in the outdoor recreation facility construction industry with my own business for 24 years….think campgrounds, trails and all the facilities required in those environments. Pretty cool, right? I’ve had a great journey with my career and while I haven’t yet swapped out my boots for a kiln I’m in the process for sure!

While working with my hands is not new to me, working with clay is relatively new; outside of the endless hours I spent playing with mud in the ditch at my childhood home (thus the name). I fell in love with the zen of clay as an Adult in 2020 when I finally made time to take a class. I then realized that just maybe I did have a little creativity to delve into! My pottery is constantly evolving and going in different directions which is so fun. I love trying out new techniques, varying clays and a whole range of glaze and firings. I HAVE SO MUCH TO LEARN! Slowly my work is getting more refined but it does take time. These are functional pieces that I hope you enjoy.

My favourite activities are reflected in my pottery; nature scenes, gardening, hiking/backpacking, canoeing, skiing. I live in the beautiful Okanagan Valley of British Columbia with my Husband and Son.
